The New Deal-Programs, Facts, Summary And FDR
My topic was The New Deal and it is about how FDR introduced many programs to take his country out of the crisis like the Great Depression and bankruptcy. I really started liking history when I was a freshman in high school and I always found historical events so interesting to read. The reason I am interested in this topic is that it had some powerful and important accomplishments in American history indeed. It put people back to work, saved capitalism, restored faith in the American economic system, and at the same time, it built a sense of hope in the American people. My inspiration to choose this topic was none other than Mr. President Franklin D. Roosevelt because of the way he built a sense of hope in his people and was really passionate about what he was doing to make his people happy. I talked about how FDR united his people, he summed up by the “Three Rs” which are relief (for the unemployed) recovery (of the economy through federal spending and job creation), and. reform (of capitalism). These pieces do fit together because it’s an example that if you are passionate and ambitious, you’ll get what you wanted.
The rhetorical question is that What are some of the negative aspects of the New Deal? Because I know not a lot of people talk about the negatives stuff but I will. One of the major negatives of the New Deal was that the balanced Federal budget was ruined and created a huge shortfall for the nation while at the same time failed to end massive unemployment. FDR couldn’t start with the high taxes because the economy was down, so he took out all the fund and used in the programs and When the economy did show some improvement. He then put taxes on every little thing. National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA) made people paid more taxes than their actual product made and Agricultural Adjustment Act( AAA) forced Americans to pay more for food, In other words, pay tax. The audience I chose for this prove of writing was students, basically high school and college students because it’s important for them to know what New Deal is and why it has an important role in our history. I think the best part that of my article was the comparison that I did with New Deal to today’s situation that going on. I’ve used pictures too which I think made it more fun because that way they know more.
I think I did fine, I tried my best to explain everything I can and made it interesting but I think I needed to add some questions to make so that way they can think more and try to answer them in their mind.
