As per my understanding after reading this source by Kyle Stedman, he basically saying that how students or just writers, in general, do not really use quotation or I would say “forget” to simplify in their own words. They just paraphrase what the author says and don’t define it in their own words. Like how Stedman has said on page 253 that “when I believe I’m not patchwriting, I am simply doing is so expertly that seams are no longer visible” and one more ” I understand that I couldn’t tell…..I swear I did some research! see? here’s a citation right here!”These quotes define how they simply re-write whatever the author has already written and said that they didn’t “re-write” if they have a cite but that’s not enough. People have to put their own interpretations too and just putting quotes at the end Doesn’t really prove their writing and did consider plagiarism. There are two of my favorite quotes that I want to use but I just use one from the article about how high taxes were really killing minorities that “New Deal taxes were major job destroyers during the 1930s, prolonging unemployment that averaged 17%. Higher business taxes meant that employers had less money for growth and jobs.” This quote is one of my favorites because it defines how minorities and colored people were targeted in this deal and rich “privileged” people didn’t really have to worried about anything. It made me sad that they were the ones who had to pay taxes on pretty much everything and yet didn’t receive benefits compare to whites and minorities still got low wages than whites whereas they’ve done more work.
