Why are you interested in this question?
New Deal was the plan introduced by President Roosevelt during the great depression. The reason I am interested in this topic is that it had some powerful and important accomplishments in American history indeed. It put people back to work, saved capitalism, restored faith in the American economic system, and at the same time, it built a sense of hope in the American people. There’s some stuff that I want to learn more about like what actually was the reason for the stock market to crash and how did the Second Deal took America out of those crises they were facing at that time? As per my knowledge, President Roosevelt introduced many programs like the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), the Civil Works Administration (CWA), the Farm Security Administration (FSA), the National Industrial Recovery Act of 1933 (NIRA), and the Social Security Administration (SSA). Which helps America’s economy better.
What do you expect to find in your research?
The things that I am looking forward to finding more are as I’ve said it before like what were the main reasons that cause Great Depression and how Second Deal was such an accomplishment for Americans back in the days? How patience people showed with the government because indeed it was a hard time. As we all know that President Roosevelt got triggered by his opposition that how his ideas wouldn’t really work out but they actually did. And how they(Americans) got their economic status back as it was before.
What will you do if you find information that goes completely against what you had expected to find?
I try my best to cite from the websites that are actually accurate, try to avoid sites where people easily can put wrong stuff sometimes like an encyclopedia. But I am really satisfied with the cites I’ve used and moreover read a lot about this topic so I believe that I have a good amount of knowledge about this topic. I will mention all my sources but if accidentally I put false information that doesn’t really go with my topic, most probably I will let someone read who has more knowledge about this topic than me, or else I research on my own by citing different sources and see whether they have the same information as mine.
What genres do you think might give you good information?
I think all genres can go with my topic because everyone is aware of it and every historian has written something about it. But obviously for others if they want to read about it, I would Prefer US history books, New York times websites/articles, and online cite like www.history.com and loc.gov. They have the best information for almost every historical incident.
