Read like a writer

In “How to read like a writer” Mike Bunn states ” You are already an author.”, as a way to explain to the readers that everyone in their own ways has a story to tell based off of their lives, the things they like, the things they read, experience, and see. Everyone has their own interest, and by us being able to experience new things when it comes to text and things like that we become more open to the the term ” Read Like A Writer”. This term shows the significance on how students are able to build or construct what they are taught into their own writing.By reading different text, articles, or books these are ways in which teaches these students of the different techniques in writing. For example when I started reading different kind of books like: “the vampire diaries, the perks of being a wallflower, Milk and honey, and etc I became more open to different ways to tell a story, and the different techniques in which the writers use in order to try to convey a message or highlight a certain point in a book in which gives us background information of why a character or person is the way that they are. These books has shaped my writing drastically being that within the short stories that I write on a daily bases has been built around not only my life but the lives in which no one is really willing to talk about. Personally Writing has been my passion for a long time since middle school I was always a fan of writing starting off on wattpad, and now in my journals, and being that I have always been given different kind of stories I have been shown different kind of techniques in which I have found way better.Words has always been in my everyday life because we use words for everything , and being able to watch myself become more open to new things throughout text and stuff makes me feel real lucky because not many people are given the opportunity’s that I have. This article “How to read like a writer” is something that would help me in my everyday life because Mike Dunn taught me that it’s better to feel the words rather than just read them. Something in which I wish I can do like Mike Dunn is figure out how to make my words match, I guess I mean I wish I can be able to have my words be more soothing to the readers, and my grammar is terrible. Those are the two things that I feel like I need to focus more on but other than that I think that I am doing pretty fine.

Daziah, I like it when you say “when I started reading different kind of books like: “the vampire diaries, the perks of being a wallflower, Milk and honey, and etc I became more open to different ways to tell a story, and the different techniques in which the writers use in order to try to convey a message.” The number one thing we know from decades of writing research is that READING makes better writers– the next thing is, of course– practice. If you want to talk about grammar with me, let’s have a meeting about it. Your grammar isn’t terrible at all– if anything, I think the issue might be that you’re second guessing yourself. Let’s have a conference and we can work on it!
