Hi, I’m Prof. Dan Ryan. I use he/him pronouns. My favorite class to teach in the Gender & Sexuality Studies minor at City Tech is Introduction to Studies in Maleness and Manhood (ENG 2170), where we study everything from literature by amazing new writers to films like Barbie, Oppenheimer, TMNT, and The Godfather. I’m also the faculty co-advisor for the student PRIDE club, which meets Thursdays during club hour in our new Pride lounge (LG29B). Come visit!

Hi, my name is Dr. Laura Westengard, and I use she/they pronouns. I am the Coordinator of the Academic Minor in Gender & Sexuality Studies and an Associate Professor in the English Department at City Tech. 8th Annual City Tech Science Fiction Symposium
You are invited to attend the 8th Annual City Tech Science Fiction Symposium on Thursday, November 30 (9:00AM-5:00PM)
Online via Zoom, Sponsored by the School of Arts and Sciences.
The theme for this year is “Science Fiction, Gender, and Sexuality.” The event features a keynote address by Ytasha L. Womack, a critically acclaimed author, filmmaker, and independent scholar; a writers discussion panel of authors published in Analog Science Fiction and Fact Magazine; the presentation of the Analog Emerging Black Writer Award; a panel discussion from faculty at the Georgia Institute of Technology, a panel discussion with Macaulay Honors College, CUNY undergraduate students, and paper presentations from scholars exploring all aspects of this year’s theme. The symposium is all day long, but attendees may dip in-and-out as their schedules permit. Also, the event will be livestreamed on YouTube.
