8th Annual City Tech Science Fiction Symposium

You are invited to attend the 8th Annual City Tech Science Fiction Symposium on Thursday, November 30 (9:00AM-5:00PM)

Online via Zoom, Sponsored by the School of Arts and Sciences.

The theme for this year is ‚ÄúScience Fiction, Gender, and Sexuality.‚ÄĚ The event features a keynote address by Ytasha L. Womack, a critically acclaimed author, filmmaker, and independent scholar; a writers discussion panel of authors published in Analog Science Fiction and Fact Magazine; the presentation of the Analog Emerging Black Writer Award; a panel discussion from faculty at the Georgia Institute of Technology, a panel discussion with Macaulay Honors College, CUNY undergraduate students, and paper presentations from scholars exploring all aspects of this year‚Äôs theme. The symposium is all day long, but attendees may dip in-and-out as their schedules permit. Also, the event will be livestreamed on YouTube.

Black & Latinx Transgender Solidarity Day

5:00 pm Candlelight vigil (Atrium Courtyard)

Join African American Studies and Gender & Sexuality Studies in an
evening of solidarity, community, and remembrance as we honor the
lives of the Black and Latinx victims of gender-related hate crimes.
We will share some food together while we create T-shirts, buttons,
and other memorabilia to honor the Black and Latinx transgender
community members we have lost over the past year. We will end
the evening with a candlelight vigil and walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.

This event is free and open to all with a CUNY ID and a Cleared4 pass
