The community that would benefit the most would be all Americans, but particularly those who are registered to vote or who will reach the age of being eligible to voters. Furthermore, this information is for those who are consumers of information and multiple forms of media that present current events news and reporting. While those in the 18-40 age range are the most who are tech-savvy, they may not know how to accurately tell fake news and misinformation from genuine news and objective truth. Some may assume that because it is on social media, or because a particular headline is shared a lot by their friends, then perhaps it is true. It is important that they learn about the forces working behind the scenes to manufacture misinformation and fake news so that they can know what is really happening in their communities and they can practice their civic duty in a better way for the benefit of everyone. The best genre would be a multi-modal approach, through short-form videos and animated text and pictures to condense this topic into bite-size samples where the important points are made in a way that stays memorable. The more it stays in their minds, the better it will serve to guide them as they identify truth from misinformation regardless of how technology gets better.
You might think of how to present this information to high school and/or early college students. Though you’re right that anyone would benefit form the information, this seems like a good age group as they are just becoming fully independent.
