(No classes Monday; Wednesday is a Monday schedule)

READING:

  • Review the four questions you developed about your topic (and posted last class).
  • Review any comments I may have provided regarding your questions.
  • Check your grade for Unit 1 in the Course Gradebook on the right hand side of this course site. Click on  “Check Grade Here”
    • Notes:
      • If you don’t have a grade and believe you should, email me immediately.
      • If you have not submitted this first major assignment, please email me  immediately before it is too late to pass this class.

WRITING:

Micro-Activity #12: Researching

  • Finalize your research question and write it out. My comments should help you do this.
  • Spend 10-15 minutes writing a substantial paragraph answering these questions: How did you get interested in your question? Why are you interested? What answers and information do you expect to find in response to your question? What will you do if you find something that does not fit your hypothesis? (approx. 300 words)
  • Before publishing your post, make sure you do the following:
    • Title it “Micro-Activity #12: Researching”
    • Pick the category “Week 8 Work”
  • Next, use the City Tech library’s online databases or the internet to locate one reputable source that helps you respond to your research question. Some useful databases are LexisNexis, Academic Search Complete, and Opposing Viewpoints. Please note: The first source you come across will not necessarily be the best one! You will have to look at multiple sources to find one that is truly useful for your specific question.
  • Also note: that you no longer log into library resources with your CUNY ID. Now, it is with the CUNY First credentials.
  • For your next assignment, you will post a summary as well as other information about your chosen source, so save the information and article carefully.
  • If you have questions as you progress with your research, you can use the 24/7 Ask a Librarian resource: https://library.citytech.cuny.edu  or email the Reference Desk at: ereference@citytech.cuny.edu
