I am going to choose Wollstonecraft’s letter as my model. she is writing to a specific person and her audiences belong to the same discourse community as him. I am going to write to the dean of the architecture department in my college and the audience will be all the architecture professors. I will sent the letter to the dean to encourage him to change the education strategies they are using and try to make it more fun and less stressing for the students. I will use an argumentative strategy using evidence and facts to prove my point. Personal experience is the main strategy I am going to use, because I can explain everything happened with me with details and make them imagine what it is like. Questioning is a very important to use in my case, I will ask him about his experience back when he was a student, were there many things that you had to spend time on and later you learned nothing ? If you try to use more fun techniques, is anyone going to lose anything? why you do not just try?. I will use comparisons between old teaching techniques and modern ones and make research what are the impacts of both. The audiences who are the professors will may see me overreacting or still young to understand what is good for me.
Beddour–this sounds focused and clear. I would say that you should keep in mind that the audience will feel like an expert so think about how to convince them they should listen to you. I also wonder if you can get other student’s stories (maybe not and it is not necessary) but to give other examples.
