Response: I agree with this quotation because if you look closely at the history of America it hasn’t been perfect and the country has been lead astray by some of its leaders. We have done terrible things such as Slavery, Child labor, etc. America has yet to truly blossom into its full potential. It just needs a leader that will lead it down a positive path.

Response: This is a powerful message and I believe is something that can be used in relation to today’s society. Lately minorities especially people of color have been feeling the squeeze of police brutality and the unfairness of the system of the united states. This quote is one that truly stood out to me and hit close to home.

Fredrick is showing the reader and the listeners that no one truly has the answers they are looking for but we all know slavery is wrong. He is emphasizing the fact that those who are pro-slavery know that it is wrong deep down but refuse to admit it.

Quote 2: “He who could address this audience without a quailing sensation, has stronger nerves than I have.”

The writing Strategy used is Sensory details.

Fredrick is using Sensory details to show the audience that it takes nerves of steel to address such an audience in a calm manner. This is useful when trying to portray the author’s feelings onto the reader and it is used properly in this section of the article.
