Investigating a Discourse Community

I decided to write a letter as my genre. Mary Wollstonecraft’s dedication letter on women’s rights prompted me to write a letter, which is ideal for me because it is a topic that I am involved in. Writing a letter greatly aided me in properly expressing what I wanted my audience to hear. I felt fantastic because I felt like I was speaking directly to someone, which is exactly what the letter is about feeling and comprehending what the individual is trying to convey. When a letter arrives, we read it with greater attention, emotion, and seriousness, in my opinion, which is why I chose to write a letter since I believed my audience would take it more personally. Also a small detail that I add to my letter is purple because that is the color that represents my community. Furthermore I don’t see much of a difference between writing a letter and writing an essay, except that, as I previously stated, it can become more personal than informative. The connection between the two is that you may express yourself and provide evidence to back up your claims. You are free to write as much as you like as long as it is clear and precise.
