Todays lesson was very interesting because it has given me more ways how to study or keep yourself focused. The study cycle which I wrote down in my notes, to help me keep in mind when starting school. Coming up with questions during class is another good thing to do in order for you to keep track of the class. The lesson for today was very helpful to me and will be in the future.

Hi Cindy, I like that you focused on the study cycle, it is a good thing to keep in mind when classes become difficult.

Today’s lesson gave me a better understanding on how much hours are put into the college life. It is definitely much more complex than high school. I also figured out that I am a visual learner and learned methods on being more focused and motivated. I have a better idea on the importance of all the topics we have come across today. Especially time management and self care.

    • Evelyn Ng

It’s great that you learned you were a visual learner today and strategies that may work in your favor when you are studying. I’m a visual learner too so I love reinterpreting graphs and concepts by drawing them!

It was tough focusing on all of the bad things that happened to me today. But I thought things like the study cycle and the college class challenges felt pretty interesting.

    • Evelyn Ng

Oh no! I hope everything is better now. The study cycle has worked well for me when I needed to retain information. I hope it works well for you too!

Todays session was really great. This is something that doesn’t get talked about a lot which I’m so grateful the topic was covered . This was Outmost the best information on the formalities of studying and simple effectiveness when it comes to being successful in retaining information and not over crowding your brain. one thing that resonated with me the most was ” Study like a detective and not a parrot” Which is code for saying study to understand and not just to know the information . Try to gain clarity and rephrase/paraphrase as much as needed to formulate a solid understanding .

    • Evelyn Ng

Oh I totally agree, when I was a freshman I had to figure out this method on my own. Making connections to the real world is a good way to understand the information!

Today’s session was amazing it’s good to have questions about certain materials when going over certain things. And making sure you understand the material but we may end up having problems when learning since we can’t find places to study. The quote that stood out to me was “study like a detective and not a parrot. This means don’t study to learn the information it means asking yourself questions and figure out what the source or material really means.

    • Evelyn Ng

Yes, having questions about the material is a great way to clarify things you didn’t understand or even deepen your understanding of the content. It also makes you an invested student that is actively participating and shows that you are thinking about the material!

Today’s session was good, and had a good time to talk with my future peers. It was good to know who my future peers will be and how college life will be like.

    • Sabrina Santos

      Hello Eldwin,
Glad to see you enjoyed conversing with your fellow peers. College life is exciting and is quite an adventure. I can’t wait for you to experience it yourself and see all of which we have discussed! 🙂

    • Evelyn Ng

That’s great! Sharing dreams and inspirations is a good thing because you get to know each other better and what skills your classmates may have that you may not. I learn graphic design tips from other students all the time. You also get to see who is in the same major!

Todays session was really informative and great on what we need to expect and focus on during our classes. For example in online classes we need to isolate ourselves away from distractions and to stay focused during class. We also got tips on annotating which will be really helpful for us to stay on top things.

    • Evelyn Ng

Yep! It’s important to have your workspace set up in a quiet area where you can focus on class. Annotating is a great way to refresh yourself on assigned readings and create questions to bring to class!

  9. Zannatun Noor Maliha

Today’s workshop was interesting and I actually learned about what type of learner I am.
Also we got to see the college in map
I’m excited to see it in person.

    • Evelyn Ng

I encourage you to explore campus if you get the chance! Being in the building and walking around is honestly the coolest because City Tech’s buildings were way bigger and spacious than my high school.

  10. DerekQ

I understood and learned how I can concentrate more while I study and receive classes.
Got to know about some strategies so I can prosper in my studies

    • Sabrina Santos

      Hello Derek,
I’m glad to hear you had a few takeaways from the class. Learning to concentrate more while studying, and using new strategies throughout your college journey. Wishing you the best in City Tech, you’ve got this!

  11. Fedaa Khalil

Today’s session was really good and informative. I was able to see the map of City Tech for the first time which excites me to see it in person. The study cycle seems like a very good way to stay on track and do well on exams.

    • Evelyn Ng

I’m happy that you are excited to see City Tech in person! I hope that you get to explore it when you get the chance to. The study cycle is something I still refer to now as a student and I hope that it helps you retain information better when exams come!

This zoom meeting taught me how valuable my time is and how important planning is in my day-to-day life. I also examined my learning style more deeply and figured out the most effective way I study/learn. This will be helpful in upcoming projects for school.

    • Evelyn Ng

It’s definitely important to know how you learn best in order to make your job as a student easier. Time is super valuable because it tends to fly by especially when you are busy. I always write down deadlines on my whiteboard to keep track of assignments. Be sure to use a planner or your phone if that works best for you!

  14. Jannatul elham

Today’s meeting I learned so many valuable things that can help to plan my time for fall semester. Also this will so helpful for upcoming projects in college.
