SUBJECT: Anderson Chapter 2 (46-end)
Some of the important things to take away from this reading when writing a resume are, draft a letter that answers the employerâs questions clearly and with details. Ways to do this are to identify the job position that you want, demonstrate your knowledge of the employerâs company, and to explain your qualifications that enables you to contribute to the employerâs success. Another important thing that i took away from this chapter is that some employers look beyond your resume and references by looking at your social media. That means facebook, myspace, instagram, and other. This alone can cost a lot of people a chance at being hired.

Subject: Anderson Chapter 2 Summary
This part of the reading focused mostly on letters of application and how to optimize them in order to create one that can get you a job. It goes over how to write the introduction, body and conclusion of the letter. You should definitely highlight your enthusiasm for the job youâre applying for. The body being referred to as the qualifications section and there is no right way of organizing this part, but that you should talk about how your own work experiences or classes will benefit the employer. They also detail how you should focus on the personality and tone of the letter as this is how an employer will pick out details of you as a person. Lastly, they focus on making sure your letter stays ethical. You need to make sure you donât list anything youâve never done, something that was done as a group and donât try to mislead anyone with your statements. As well as, remembering that what you post on social media is something a potential employer can see, so itâs best to tidy up any social media account you have.

SUBJECT: Anderson Chapter 2
In this portion of the reading, Anderson stresses the importance of a good job application letter. An effective application letter displays the writers knowledge of the company’s innovations and processes, and how the writer can contribute to that because of shared goals. This also gives the writer the opportunity to praise the company’s achievements, without being insincere, and provides applicants with the chance to expound on the experiences listed in a rĂ©sumĂ©, and how that enhances what they bring to the table. These points of what the company could stand to gain through your employment are what Anderson calls “reader-centered facts” because they appeal to the company’s best interests. Anderson goes on to outline the formatting for a good application letter, where an introduction tells the reader why you have written, and conveys your enthusiasm for the job through specific knowledge of the output of the company, a body shows the reader how you are qualified and can contribute to the company’s success, and a conclusion indicates your intent to follow up whether with a phone call to the company or a number written down where you can be reached. The last take-away to note from this reading is the importance of how you project your personality (should be positive i.e. goal-oriented, has leadership qualities) and the tone you take in writing, which should be formal.

Learn about the job position by talking to people who are experienced and also doing research online. You have to organize the cover letter in a specific layout. You should always revise your cover letter to make improvements so you can stand out.

SUBJECT: Anderson Chapter 2 Summary
During the second half of the chapter Anderson continues to give us useful advice on how to properly create a job application portfolio. Resume writing has to be specific to the job one person wants with a reader centered approach. This is crucial to finding a job that a person desires. When the employer sees what a person has to offer from their point of view and how it would benefit their company, they like this because they want to add an someone that would contribute to their growth and development. Anderson focuses on this part on how to properly write an application letter. In an application letter you are given the opportunity to further explain why this job would be the right fit for you. This letter should be written always having in mind the questions that the reader wants answers to. Such as âhow would you contribute to this organization’s success? would you work well with other employers? why this specific company?â. Before writing this reader centered application letter you should always do some research about the company and the people who would be reading your application to be able to better express yourself in a more meaningful way. Anderson also builds upon how to properly prepare to interview with a company and also notes that a person should always revise their social media accounts and its content to be something appropriate for the companies to look at if they desire to research about you further.
