    Dear Jason Ellis,
How is the day treating you? I was reading an article that I thought you might want to read. The article is called “When The Call Comes” by Aryn Baker/Athens and is in the TIME magazine that came out February 20,2017.

The article is about a Syrian family who are refugees and are stranded in Greece waiting to be taken in by a European country. I think you will like it because it shows the harsh reality that is life for the refugees. The reguee the article is focused on is named Taimaa Abazli. To get to a european country the refugees must wait on a call. Sadly this call is missed by Taimaa because her 4 month old daughter was diagnosed with “an acute bronchial infection”. Another reason I think you will like it is because while not many news outlets are reporting about refugees, many are still out there looking for help. While in Taimaa’s case she ends up finding a place of refuge not everyone is so lucky. Lastly I think you will like it because it shows that humanity is not lost.

I hope that you will give this article a read and once you have done that we can talk about it..

    Sincerely,

    Bianca Campbell

    Dear Dr. Ellis,

    How are you doing today?

I read an informative article by Callum Williams that I think you would find very interesting. The article is titled, “Dress for Success” from the 257th issue of the magazine, Web Designer, that was published in January 2017. I think you should read this article because just like everyone else, I’m pretty sure you shop online for clothes such as jeans, jackets, shirts, etc. but can’t figure out if they would be a perfect fit due to all the different companies and varying sizes. Well this article explains how people are developing applications that allow you to try on the clothes virtually, without actually having to be in the store. Callum Williams explains how they are working on an app that can have you put in your body measurements, and bring the fitting room to your browser and smartphone. The article also provides us with statistical information like reducing the order return sales by 5% and increasing customer visitor sales by 22%. It shows how easier life would be for people like you and I to shop from the comfort of our homes without having to worry if the clothes are a perfect fit and save us a trip to the store for returns. This is one article that caught my attention and I just didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share it with you.

If you would like to discuss the article in more detail, please let me know.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Dear Dr. Ellis,

    How are you doing today?

I read an informative article by Yuan Ren that I would like to recommend to you. I read an interesting article by Yuan Ren that I believe you should read. I would like to suggest an enlightening article by Yuan Ren for you to read that I enjoyed. The article is titled “Live Streaming Entertainment”. I thought that you should read this article, because Live Streaming and Entertainment is something that is very popular these days.

In the article it explains how people are now getting into life streams by communicating with the user, telling jokes, singing, and little bit of everything else. Back then people would use the TV for entertainment, but now with live streaming the new age is about to begin. It can replace TV for entertainment because now that most people have internet it’s very easy all you need is a set up of a camera and microphone. Live streaming itself has been very popular and people make decent amount of money the author of the article has made over 100,000 yuan in virtual gifts. Interaction itself has now become more advanced instead of texts and other things people can tune into a show and talk to the host. Live streaming has given a chance for people to get their names out there and allow other people to recognize what they can do.

Another reason why this is so interesting is that you can think of the capability of live streaming. Why not live stream classes and have other teachers be in the same room while assisting other students? Students these days have so much tools at their disposal why not use them? For example if a teacher is demonstrating math work and a student gets stuck on a problem they can live stream back and forth to help each other. This all can be done from a home with the right equipment. The possibly of life streaming is infinite you can do virtually anything using it for entertainment, education, and so on. In live streaming people often use to promote their brands why not promote the school while you’re at it? Using live streaming for education is something new and could cause major impact in the education system.

Lastly live streaming has impacted the way people do things. People can now hop on and listen to people who haven’t had their voice heard in terms of debate. Students can go on and host shows to expose themselves to the world and their many talents. With students hosting they can get hired for future jobs or be paid for being an entertainment stream. With live streaming being available you can make extra money with ads now and people can sponsor you. This has given a chance for students who might want to do robotics for example in the future demonstrate what they can make. This could launch millions of entrepreneurship careers since a bigger population would mean you can sell these online. This tool could be a groundbreaking tool for education and its future. Education could be used as live streams now for students who may miss a class can easily go back and rewind it or do it via life messaging.

    Dear Dr. Ellis,

    How are you doing today?

I read an enlightening article by Dorothy Callaci and I thought you would take great interest in it. The article was titled Squeezed Out in the magazine New York Teacher on February 2, 2017. I thought it would be interesting to you because it highlights the importance of public schools in New York City. It also discusses how New York City public schools deal with sharing buildings with charter schools. Furthermore, it also talks about the significance of the the public school system in the community, and sheds light on what public schools are really like when charter schools move in.

In the article Callaci discusses why public schools should be kept open as a single building site and not shared with charter schools. Public schools are often located in small neighborhoods which makes them a symbol of a sense of community. Public schools also can house a large population of students which allows a larger chance of every child receiving an education. Unfortunately may public schools are being forced to share their space with charter schools which highlights the divide of socioeconomic status in the neighborhood. This breaks down the sense of community. Public school students often suffer the consequences when they are forced into single class rooms all day or not given the opportunity for after school programs due to the lack of space with sharing a building. The after school activities in public schools are often something that parents and students look forward to because it gives parents time to pick up their children, and also gives the students an interesting activity to partake in. With charter school moving in this is taken away. Other program such as occupational therapy and physical therapy are being taken away from public school students because there are no rooms for use with the charter schools moving in.

I believe that this is a serious topic that needs to be further discussed amongst like minded educators. Please let me know when you are available to discuss this.

    Sincerely,

    Shinquella Glasgow

    Dear Dr. Ellis,

    How are you doing today?

I’ve read an interesting article by Orion Hindawi that I believe you should read. The article is titled “Cybersecurity Needs to Scale Up Before the Big One Hits” from Wired magazine, The Wired World 2017. I thought you should read this article because youself being interested in technology I figured you would enjoy reading this.

This article goes into detail about how outdated our cyber security really is, claiming that it’s still in the 20th century and needs to catch up with today’s ecosystem. Everyone nowadays has a smart device, whether it be a phone, watch, or tv not all of it is protected in the cyber world. Unfortunately manufacturers are not routinely building cybersecurity into their products development life-cycle, which means that these products are not being protected. Because of how evolved our technology has become in today’s world it also means that hackers have just as much evolved in today’s world. Many large companies are starting to modernize their IT systems but more is needed to be done in order to be fully protected. We have had big attacks on us before but just because we haven’t had the one big attack doesn’t mean we should be neglecting our advancement on cybersecurity.

If you would like to discuss the article in more detail please let me know.

    Sincerely,

    Dear Dr. Ellis,

    How are you doing today?

I would like to suggest an insightful article by Michael O’Keeffe for you to read that I enjoyed. The article is tilted “Everyman’s champion,” which was published in amNewYork Monday March 20, 2017 newspaper. I thought you should read this article about the passing of a beloved columnist and Pulitzer Prize winner Jimmy Breslin because he was gifted writer who write stories about ordinary citizens,a former New Yorker and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize.

I thought you might appreciate this article because you are a English Professor at New York City College of Technology. As a writer myself, I know that it is a dream to win a Pulitzer Prize. Also, I know that living in a city like New York City, which is constantly fuming with constant inspiration plays an critical role in our ability to tell stories. This is exactly what Michael O’Keeffe did and what so many New Yorkers have come to appreciate. I hope this inspires you to write more and to submit your writings samples to amNewYork, Daily News, and Newsday. I think that if you submit your writing samples to be published and if they do get published it would bring more viewership to your blog dynamicsubspace.net. I am sure readers would love to know more about pedagogy, your philosophy about LEGO as a tool in education, your interest in science fiction.

If you would like to discuss the article in more details, please let me know.

Dear Dr. Ellis, How has your week been going, I hope well. I recently read an article about the relationship between our Brain GPS and the GPS on our mobile devices. The name of the article is Using GPS Devices May Switch Off Your Brain’s GPS. The article was written by Bahar Gholipour and published by Live Science on March 21, 2017.

The article provides an in-depth explanation on the relationship between the Brain GPS and the GPS on a mobile device and what happens when you use the mobile GPS frequently. According to Amir-Homayoun Javadi, a neuroscientist at the University of Kent in the U.K. when we use a GPS on a mobile device, “you delegate the task of navigation to your GPS, and you merely follow the directions, which is yet a demanding task, but perhaps not as demanding as actual route planning,”. Translation when we use the GPS on a mobile device we are not learning the actual geography of the place while going there nor are we learning how to get there by on our own knowledge.
Javadi stated that, “over time, humans will get worse and worse at using their brains for pathfinding.” This means the part in our brain that help us navigate: the hippocampus could be used less. This is just one negative aspect of using a GPS on a mobile device. However the GPS system is not entirely negative towards our brains. The GPS system could open up mental space in our brains to other task and abilities. In particular, the children who are growing up with smart phones can develop a different skill set. Javadi insisted that, “These changes, however, do not mean that children will not activate their hippocampus for navigation anymore”. ”They might have a GPS for the streets, but they still need to navigate the labyrinths of the internet.”

I found this article really informative about the future of children and this generation in general with smart phones. I hope we can discuss the topic and article in the future.
    Sincerely,
    Chaunce S. Taylor
