The first photo I took in black was of the cat’s fur. To get the photo to be more black, I angled the camera to a white background and held the camera meter feature. I did the same thing in reverse to get a brighter picture of my white wall.
Good choice of subjects. You are getting better results with the cat than the wall. the wall still looks pretty dark for a white wall. Note the color as well. We won’t talk at any length about white balance but here is a good example of why we need to correct for the color of the light.
