You make a very good observation about how the size of a photo can make a difference. In the case of the photo you mention, Madison St, the larger version allows us to see the one person in the window more clearly. The photo revolves around this detail and it just has more impact when it is bigger. I often think how much is lost on Instagram when small details cannot be seen. Madison St would have no impact at all as a small square.
The assignment was to write a response to both exhibits.
