this is a good example of rule of thirds because the focus is on the guy as well as having the focus on the other side were the trees are. Keeping the focus on the right side and left

this is a good example of pattern

    Yes, putting the main subject as in your top photo to the right or left side qualifies as the rule of thirds.

    You created a visually interesting a pattern out of something I assume is not considered interesting normally.
