Curriculum Modification – A Brief Guide for Faculty
This guide describes the college’s procedures for curriculum modification. Each department or program is responsible for continually reviewing and refining the curriculum and courses it offers and for initiating proposals for new curricula and courses. The college recognizes active participation in this process as part of the professional responsibility of every faculty member.
Curriculum Proposal Deadlines
Minor Proposals are usually brought to the committee on a rolling basis each cycle and need to be in at least two weeks before the Standing Committee meetings to be reviewed and make it on the agenda. - Minor curriculum changes to be implemented in Fall 2025 must be announced at the College Council General Meeting during the fall cycles and so must be submitted before Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
- Minor curriculum modification proposals to be implemented in Spring 2026 may be submitted any time before Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
Major Proposals receive sub-committee review. Departments are encouraged to submit their proposals no later than Monday, September 9, 2024 to ensure the review process goes forward in the fall semester. Departments are encouraged to submit their proposals any time before Wednesday, January 29, 2025 to ensure the review process goes forward in the spring semester.
- The deadline for major curriculum changes to be implemented in Fall 2025 is approval by College Council at the General Meeting by Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
- The deadline for major curriculum changes to be implemented in Spring 2026 is approval by College Council at the General Meeting by Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
- The deadline for submission of Experimental Courses is generally one semester before course will run.
Proposals must be proofread and vetted before submission. All necessary approvals for each proposal must be obtained before the proposal is submitted. The completed proposal package must be submitted to the Curriculum Committee Chair: Professor Elizabeth Milonas (emilonas@citytech.cuny.edu).
