Review your course syllabi. What does this information tell you about what you should expect at the start of the semester?
If you do not have any course syllabi available yet, select one of the standard entry-level course syllabi linked below to use while completing this reflection.
How to write an email to help out with what you need to do.
What do you mean? Do you mean that the email of the professor is posted? Here is a question: where can find you syllabus before your class starts?
Hi Noorshad! Please re-read the reflection directions. I’m not too sure you answered the question.
The syllabus would help me on what to do at the start of the semester. Math 1190 syllabus explains on how to do a proper group project.
That’s true. Some other helpful information on the syllabus include the date, time and location of your class, how to contact the professor, the course objectives and a course calendar. These are important information that you should look out for on the syllabus as well 🙂
I learned that you need to be responsible with your work and deadlines are important. If you have any inconveniences or problems you can always reach out to professors in a professional manor .
Exactly!!! If you run into a situation where you might be late with an assignment (or absent from more than one class in a row), it is always a good idea to keep your professor posted.
The course syllabi gives me ample information about what i would be doing, where i’m expected to do some course works and how i would be graded. Reviewing BIO 1101 has been very informative to me.
That’s great! One of my favorite things about the syllabus is being able to know what I will be learning each week. That way I can prepare for class and follow the learning cycle that we discussed previously 🙂
I chose to read the hospitality management syllabi and if I were in that class I should expect a lot of reading and writing assignments along with weekly homework.
Good catch! This information is great to know because it can also help you decide how much time you want to dedicate to the class per week. For example, I’m a pretty slow reader so I know I should allot a good amount of time to a reading based course.
This information shows me how to communicate with my professor and how i will be graded throughout the semester. It also prepares me for the type of work i’ll be receiving.
Exactly!
Good! Most syllabi list all of the assignments for the whole semester so you can always plan ahead.
What does this information tell you about what you should expect at the start of the semester?
Biology 1 syllabus is giving me a description on what I will be learning in class and giving my a summary of what is included. It breaks down the lectures by week so I would be able to study and get familiar with the topic before school starts. The syllabus is a great help because I can use it as a guide and whenever I need to study for test I can go back to it to remember what topic I have to study.

The syllabus should tell you everything needed in order to plan ahead and make the most out of your class experience.
