Robert Capa’s Death of a Loyalist Soldier has been a controversy ever since it came out. The picture shows a solider being shot, while Capa captured that exact moment. The controversies within this photo include people thinking it was staged or not. I believe that the photo of the Loyalist Soldier being shot was NOT staged. The reason I believe this is because Robert Capa would basically put his own life on the line while traveling with all these soldiers, just to take a few pictures. A person who works this hard, and follows around soldiers during the time of war, probably will not stage their photo. Soldiers were frequently getting attacked during the time of war. Robert Capa was just merely using his camera until a sniper shot the Loyalist Soldier. Capa did that for a living. He captured true Spanish civil war. Robert Capa got pictures of how war truly is, and he would put his life on the line for it. Why would he ever need to stage such a devastation of losing a solider. I do believe authenticity matters in photography. Robert Captured how war really is. He captured the loyalist soldier falling down after being shot. You can see the soldiers facial expression, it shows how he knows he is dead. That he has given up. I think Capa is very authentic in capturing devastating moments as such.
