What fascinates me the most about the civil wars soldier’s diet is how unsanitary the foods can get. The soldiers have to carry their portions of food as they travel and with almost no protections to keep the food safe. Imagine on a rainy day and all the foods the soldiers carry will be wet. Those food are suppose to be their food supply for the next few days or week and the food might start to spoil or even touch the rust from the metal cans. The soldiers will have no choice but to eat the food since it is their only food source.
A food that I cannot live without would be noodles. Whether its stir-fry or noodle soups.
