What I found fascinating about Civil War soldier’s diet is that coffee was the most important part of the meal. They had coffee with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I believe drinking coffee it was the only culinary pleasure they had in the war. What I find interesting is that they did not drink water at all it was not drinkable and that is why they had to boil it in order to be safe. I found it interesting how Sanderson organized the kitchen and that he cared about food safety.
The one item I cannot give up is coffee. I need my coffee to be able to go through a long day
I agree with you there! Seeing the raw and bug infested foods they were given, I’d gladly enjoy a cup of joe. Even though I chose food over coffee, I need my coffee everyday as well! I just have to face the wrath of my stomach :p
