Social Media as Art?

In my point in experience learning about art, taking a picture (selfies included) and art does not fall in the same category. Art helps others see the creation of work being done by others but in social media, it’s more like a recommendation to others in experience. Many apps are used so others can view other people works and the amount of people are known as followers. Social media is different because it’s not first-person point of view, connection is made by meeting them face to face. I use social media but to navigate points on where I need to go or recommend others to a piece of work that’s interesting (Example: The Museum of Natural History).

Going back to the question as “taking a selfie as art”, for example, if I see a person that made that artwork and I did a pose from my Iphone, then it’s not art. However, giving a caption that it’s one of my favorite artists or work done would be a reason to consider that piece of work a success. It’s great to use social media to share the work done by yourself to others but, during a special event, I wouldn’t use it often till the end so, I can experience that moment and give details on what it’s like there. Art, itself, is like the term expression to give a background on what your work would be like.
