Hi Everyone,
I have sent the template files to all of you through blackboard this morning. Please would someone confirm that you received it as I this is the first time I am using this tool in Blackboard. Also I have uploaded a PowerPoint Tutorial that will help you understand how to use the template.
Please remember your first version of your Zoning sheets is due when we return – please upload them to Blackboard by midnight Tuesday the 17th.
Please email me if you have any questions.
I would ask that everyone read Chapter 10 – Egress for Mondays class. Those researching Program and Egress will find this particularly useful.
You can also review the rest of NYC Building Code here.
For Monday visit your building site as a team and begin an inventory. Take site photos and begin to develop a site plan in AutoCAD.
Additionally review the materials and links that are already posted under “Lectures & Tutorials” on our OpenLab website. We will review these together in class on Monday.
For Monday work to develop an outline for review that covers what you plan on talking about in your presentation and include how you will divide up the work among your team members.
Begin to locate resources of information, develop a team PowerPoint Template to share, look for images, details, etc. to help your team effort.
Please group your pinups by topic an not by building. For example put all of the structural reviews for all of the teams together. Do the same for Mechanical, Egress, Program etc. As a class we will focus and review on a topic by topic basis.
Please pinup your drawings as soon as you arrive in the pinup space in the corridor closest to our class room.
I received a question on the Egress Study regarding dealing with multiple floor. For each building you must look at the whole building – meaning all floors. This includes structure, mechanical, egress etc. For example you may require different structural spans or column spacing on different floors.
Division of work assignments was due today.
One of the teams has still not posted how they intend to divide up the work. Please add this ASAP.
This assignment is due posted on Wednesday by midnight and printed for class on Thursday morning.
One member of the team should compile this assignment as a single PDF to include all team members work and post it on Blackboard by Wednesday evening at midnight.
Please arrive at class early so you can print your marked up sheets on 11 x 17. If you cannot arrive early – then please select a team member who can arrive early to print and pinup for the team.
Pinups will be in the corridor just outside our room.
The grading ranged from A to B. All team members were given the same grade unless you were not in attendance and therefore did not contribute to the creation of a team schedule – your current grade will show as an F. When your schedule is coordinated with the teams and the team schedule is updated your grade will be changed. When this work is submitted your grade will be lower than the rest of the team as late as per the course policy.
Grading Criteria included the following:
Team 2 created a very good team schedule. If you wish to review it please go to their team website or follow this link, Go To Team 2 Schedule
The grading ranged from B to A. If no schedule was posted then the current grade will show as an F. F grades will be changed when the work is submitted but will be downgraded as late as per the course policy.
Grading Criteria included the following:
Mimu created a very nice schedule using her own template – although she did leave her name off of it. She should consider sharing the format with her team. Additionally the team needs to use a consistent color palette.
