  • Read Ching BCI on The Building + Building Elements 2.02-2.04. 
    • Submit scanned + formatted Reading Notes+ Sketches
    • In addition to your notes + sketches, be sure to reflect on and write your answers the following questions: 
      • How does the book define architecture? 
      • How does that compare / contrast with my own understanding of architecture?
    • Submit to Dropbox here.
  • Module I: Case Study Order and Geometry Diagram
    • Continue and complete your sketches started in class
    • show key geometric forms you find in the plan
    • show the 2 major axes; use the line types we reviewed in class
    • continue the one you started in class; then make another
  • Bring all sketches and sketchbook to class Tuesday February 15

To Do After Class

  • Read Ching BCI on Egress A.10-A.11. 
    • Submit scanned + formatted Reading Notes+ Sketches
    • In addition to your notes/sketches, be ready to discuss:
      • How many means of egress do I have in my home?
        • Where are they and how do I get to them?
    • Sketch a plan of your home showing how you would exit the building in case of an emergency. If you live in an apartment building be sure to show the path to the outside of the building, not just your apt.
      • Keep in mind that every building should have at least 2 means of egress.
    • Due Monday February 21, 10pm to Dropbox here
  • Module I: Case Study Order and Geometry Diagram
    • Finish final plan geometry diagram

    • Draw structural grid based on dimensions provided in class by Professor Gernert
    • Be sure to use drawing conventions and + scale we reviewed in class

    • Bring all drawings to class and be ready to review with Professor Tuesday February 22, 8:30 am. Do not fold your drawings; roll them.
