Select a map that you saw on our visit. Provide multiple photographs including some with detail and integrate them into your report. Pick a map that either relates to your research or if your research doesn’t relate to a neighborhood, pick a map that corresponds to one of our walking tour fieldtrips.
find a map of the same area in Google Maps. get a screenshot from Google Maps and put it side by side with the map from New York Public Library. Answer as many of these questions as you can about the historic map:
- who created the map?
- when was it created?
- why was it created–what purpose does it serve?
- what differences do you see between the historic map and the current Google map?
Write at least 100 words discussing the above. Expand on point 4 about the differences as much as possible. Provide a citation to the historic map in your report.
