VALUE Rubric for oral presentations (focus on supporting material section)
- 7 minutes maximum
- Use powerpoint and have at least 10-14 slides
- chiefly images or important data: cite your image or data source on the slide! [example citation to an image]
- historic photos
- historic maps
- observation sketches
- your photographs
- charts from data esp. from
- U.S. Census
- NYC Dept. of City Planning
- NYC Open Data
- NYC Dept. of Finance
- minimize your text
- use compelling quotes sparingly
- use text for most important facts that are not visual
- chiefly images or important data: cite your image or data source on the slide! [example citation to an image]
- have your presentation scripted unless you are an expert at presenting
- never read off your slides
- Your bibliography should be included as the last slide; new sources you have added should be included
