B) How do you feel about teaching remotely? Is this your first time or did you previously teach online courses?
Great question, Alexandria. I’m of two minds about teaching remotely–which, yes, I’ve been doing in one form or another for several years actually (I began teaching hybrid courses at CT well before the pandemic). On one hand, I know that in-person class can be more easily made “fun,” spontaneous, etc. There is nothing like being in an in-person, real-time discussion of a topic or text I feel strongly about. On the other hand, remote work is rather convenient, and, I’m learning, can also be made fun and spontaneous so long as we learn how to manipulate to those ends the tools at our disposal——Zoom, course sites, etc. So these days I’m kind of leaning in the direction of remote work, but I do miss seeing and being around living, breathing humans in ugly, windowless CUNY classrooms. 😉
Thanks for the response,
M
