With all the hype surrounding the latest and greatest smartphone, I thought it would be ideal to depict the long time battle between Samsung users and Apple users.

In the latest round of What the Trump, our president has launched missiles into a Syrian base in order to “police the actions against the Syrian citizens”, and apparently Clinton had called for the same action just hours prior.

3: Refernecing the same article, I put in the references of Trump constantly referring to his actions as “hugeeeee”

Concept Sketches

For my editorial illustration concept sketches it showcases circus animals abuse. The first one is of an elephant being tied up by its tusks. The second one is of a lion, its mane is supposed to be flames because in circuses lions are usually jumping a ring of fire. The third sketch is of a bear that has a mechanism on its face that closes its jaw.

Devin’s Final Sketches

Here are my final sketches for the Editorial Illustration Project. The first picture is a boy with autism looking at the lake, seeing the muppet, Julia as the reflection. The metaphor for this sketch is that he sees the muppet as himself. This sketch is used to represent the article, “Meet The New Kid On ‘Sesame Street’: Julia, A Muppet With ” by Mary Papenfuss. The second picture is the monstrous mom approaching the kid that bullied her son with a soft ball. The metaphor for this sketch is that the mother has turned into a monster after witnessing her son being bullied. That sketch is for the article, ” When Mothers Bully Back” by Susan Perabo. The third picture is the boy with autism touching Julia’s hand as they stare at each other. The metaphor for this sketch is the same as the first picture. This sketch alo represents the same article as the first one. So which one do you think I should go with? Comment below.

Project 2: Editorial Illustration

Project 2: Editorial Illustration:

For the next project you will be creating an editorial illustration for use to accompany an article in a magazine, printed or online.

The illustration must be created using a limited palate of black, white, and 1 other color and should be made using a combination of traditional drawing / inking skills and digital coloring.  Final art should be made to fit the real magazine’s specs. (Approx 9” x12”)

Final work will be judged on the uniqueness, clarity and cleverness of overall the concept, utilization of composition, skillful use of media, use of a full range of value, and of course overall technique.
