To-Do Before Class

  • Familiarize yourself ahead of time with our Open Lab course and all its features.
  • Complete the Student Survey
  • Try to obtain all the Materials you need for this course. See Materials List.
  • Today you will need:
    • Notebook
    • Sketchbook
    • HB and 2B drawing pencils
    • 18″ x 24″ newsprint pad
    • Drawing clipboard
    • Erasers
  • Gather your supplies and be ready to work 15 minutes before class.

  • To gain an overview of the many approaches to drawing the figure in art history 
  • To be introduced to selected great master drawings 
  • To understand how figure drawing benefits you as a communicator
  • To learn the proportions of the “universal” full-frontal view
  • To transform the universal diagram into the likeness of an actual individual
