Gun violence has always been a major problem to our society. This problem has a major effect in our society because a lot of people are dying and getting hurt every day. In my opinion that’s one of the most causes of death in our world. I would like to fix this problem and will help try to stop this problem. Gun violence can harm anybody, but it adversely impacts people of color , women, and other vulnerable groups in society under particular conditions. Nearly everyday, an estimated 2,000 individuals are hurt by bullets. Around the world, at least 2 million people have been injured by firearms. This is a serious problem to our society because we don’t want any more gun violence and we should help and stop and spread awareness.

Amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, World War III had already began to start slowly. Russia launched its attack in Ukraine on February 24th which made Joe Biden, president of the U.S. to ask Congress to approve bills for Ukraine’s funding. Putin had made it clear that any country that tried to interfere with Ukraine would suffer a tremendous amount. This topic is not really of a concern to us right now because nothing is happening here at the moment but our best bet is to stay prepared and ready for anything that comes toward us. This is to be taken seriously since there are high chances of a war all over the world and not only the invasion of Ukraine right now.

Fake news is defined as any erroneous information released to mislead, get attention, harm character, or even be misleading. It is most often framed as a shocking tale to garner attention, damage reputation, or even deceive The tweet sent out by Eric Tucker, the proprietor of a marketing company headquartered in Austin, serves as an outstanding example of current false news. On Twitter, he mentioned that paid protestors were being brought to march against the recently elected president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump. According to the author, Mr. Erick Tucker’s tweet was shared more than sixteen thousand times on Twitter, and it was shared more than thirty-five thousand times on Facebook.

CLIMATE CLOCK: Companies are not willing to take action.

According to researchers, our planet has 7 years till global warming. In fact, several regions all over the globe have climate clocks on buildings where people experience a moment of disbelief that generally lasts about a minute and then forget and go about their day. Many argue that we are the problem as individuals, and although this is true, power has the most important impact, and by power, I mean giant corporations.

Mental health has always been an issue among City University of New York (CUNY) students. A 2018 survey done by Healthy CUNY shows, “About one in six CUNY undergraduates experience depression, one in five experience anxiety disorders, and one in six reports moderate or severe psychological distress.” What does this information have to do with Covid-19’s effect on students’ mental health in 2022? What does it have to do with mental illness possibly being an epidemic since COVID-19? Well, in April 2020, another survey was conducted, and the increase in numbers is alarming. About 42 percent reported experiencing depression and about 43 percent reported experiencing anxiety. In the case of depression, the number is almost tripled and has doubled in the case of anxiety.

Asian hate has started to spiral out of control in the United States recently. But the main question is: What caused the Asian hate Sentiments to start spiraling out of control? Ever since the beginning of the SARS-COVID-19 virus being spread around the world, Asian hate crimes had started to increase slowly but steadily with multiple incidents being reported left and right in Asian communities but mainly around the United States, It also did not help with in 2021, former President Donald Trump has called the SARS-COVID19 virus “Chinese Virus.” According to a study from the American Journal of Public Health done in March 2021. After the tweet from the former president, 20 percent of the hashtags on twitter regarding COVID-19 had some sort of racial Anti-Asian Sentiment hashtags with the most common being “#Chinesevirus” with more than half of the posts mostly containing Anti-Asian Sentiments.

Are there high chances for a Third World War?

Everything that is going on with Ukraine and Russia has left people astounded on the possible outcomes that could derive from all this. After multiple attempts from the U.S. trying to neutralize the conflict, Russia hasn’t been as compliant. But is this enough to start a world war? In simple terms no. Russia is currently in a bad position and many factors indicate that Russia will have to stop at some point or another. Plus Putin is as stubborn as ever, and his beloved country is suffering because of his actions. As a result, companies have pulled their businesses out of Russia such as Mcdonald’s, Starbucks, and Coca-Cola. These companies don’t want to be associated with or promote a country that doesn’t care for innocent lives.

Op-Ed: Should Cursive Writing be taught in schools?
I always wondered growing up why they never taught us in school how to write in cursive? My parents told me when they were growing up going to school they were taught how to write in cursive. Now I didn’t consider this a big issue at first until I started to think more about it, I can just remember being at the DMV one summer with my mom getting my ID and I had to sign my signature and I can just remember the lady looking at me sign the paper but it wasn’t in cursive and she asked my mom he doesn’t know how to write in cursive and my mom told her that his school never taught him. And they were talking about how they don’t understand why it’s not being taught anymore, they didn’t understand why they have lowered the standard. As I said at first I didn’t consider it a serious issue until I started to think more about it and the positives of learning how to write in cursive which is why I believe cursive writing should be taught in schools, something that should have been done a long time ago. I just want those after me to have that chance to learn how to write in cursive since I’ve never had it.

The crime in NYC is the worst it’s ever been in history. About 3 years ago, NYC was announced as the safest big city in America. With the current officials in charge, the city has no hope and that’s why people are moving out. Instead of people moving into such a great city, many are leaving. During mayor Bill de Blasio’s term, many repeat criminals were released from jail and people weren’t punished for their crimes which is why the crime rate is so high. It seems that the new mayor wants to fight gun violence and stop crime in his city. He has shown full support to the NYPD when many were against them. As a retired PO, I feel as though he knows exactly what needs to be done to bring the city back to its feet.

What is gentrification? Gentrification is the process of transforming an area into a more desirable place to live. Gentrification involves relocating current residents and bringing new businesses. The term is usually used negatively, implying that wealthy foreigners are displacing underprivileged communities. However, gentrification’s consequences are complex and its true impact varies. Gentrification has a lot of positive features and can result in the community having less crime, and new investments. Unfortunately, the benefits of these shifts are typically excessively enjoyed by newcomers, leaving long-term residents economically and socially isolated. In many American communities, gentrification has created conflict, frequently along racial and economic lines. Neighborhood change is frequently perceived as a social justice miscarriage, in which wealthy, mainly white, newcomers are congratulated for “fixing” a disadvantaged neighborhood.
