More about the event:
Join illustrator Sara Gómez Woolley and author Leigh Lewis for a behind-the-scenes look at the making of National Geographic Kids’ new book, PIRATE QUEENS. Moderated by Professor George Garrastegui as part of the COMD Meet the Pros series, this conversation will discuss the intersection of research and illustration, to the written manuscript and will illuminate the process behind creating a culturally and historically accurate illustrated book.  Through these Illustrations we will explore the lives of these amazing women who lived outside the roles assigned to them by gender and birth, turning to piracy and ruling their day.For More information please visit our event page.
