Activities
- PRESENTATION. Starting promptly at 8:45am (i.e. 15minutes and no more for all to be assembled. Alphabetical by last name.
- 120 minutes divided by 18 = 6.5 minutes per presentation, including 2 minutes of feedback.
- Presentation Prompts:
- Page 1. Expressive Typography using a typeface. Why did you choose and use these four words? What was the challenge in creating the words? What was the most fun AND the most useful thing you learned from this assignment?
- Page 2. Sketches. Did you find it odd or difficult to come up with concepts or sketches?
- Page 3. Expressive Lettering without using a Typeface. Describe how you created your word. What challenges did you overcome? Did knowing a bit about typography from earlier classes help you devise your Expressive Lettering? What else do you feel you need to know?
- Feedback from fellow students: Offer OBSERVATIONS and SUGGESTIONS. You are respecting your fellow students by observings, reacting, responding, suggesting, encouraging and PARTICIPATING.
- Type Scavenger Hunt (for Class 21). CHOOSE ONE OF TWO.
- ONE. See the play on letters in image below and in this Instagram post by Mario Eskenazi Studio and then look for instances of playful type like this. In your examples, you do not need to include text similar to the Serif “explanation” at the foot of the image.
- TWO. See the branding for “Ezhishin, the first-ever conference dedicated to Native North American typography” and see if you can find a similarly-specialized wordmark for a non-traditional organization. Read about the conference, too and look at the design/typography of the website.

As noted at the beginning of the semester and after Project 01, ON-TIME work and PARTICIPATION and ATTENDANCE affect your grade. Of course, QUALITY is also a factor.
