Overview

Cipe Pineles was a graphic designer and art director who became the first female member of the New York Art Directors Club. She was born June 23, 1908, in Vienna, Austria, and attended Pratt Institute, later becoming an educator at Parsons where she taught fashion merchandising. The more I learned the more I realized how much I wanted to achieve what she did, perhaps not in the same industry but similar role. Our work may not be so related but our goals might be more aligned. She was the first in a lot of her work while working with various magazines like Seventeen, Glamour, Vanity Fair, and Vogue. And hope to work with a lot of companies and brands as well in the near future. I think editorial design is something that’s visually public related and I love these sorts of things. The way her work is aesthetically positioned and demonstrated. I enjoy looking through magazines and the way these specific ones are portrayed catches my attention because they’re chic, sophisticated, and elegant. And I really admire her work ethic, as she continued to teach through her 70s. I hope to have her determination in life.
