Early To Mid 20th Century

J. Howard Miller who was born in 1918, United States is often known for his “We Can Do it” posters created in 1943 to boost female worker’s morale and was a symbol of women empowerment.

J. Howard Miller’s work caught my attention due to the bold use of color and striking visual appeal. I admire how his designs are not just visually engaging but also carry a strong sense of encouragement and inspiration. Much like Miller, I aspire for my work to motivate others, creating designs that are impactful and encouraging. His ability to blend simplicity with clarity is something I strive to follow, as I believe that clean and direct communication in design is important. Furthermore, Miller’s work inspires me because of its cultural relevance. His design, particularly the iconic “We Can Do It!” poster, carries messages that still resonate today despite the work being created in 1943. This timeless cultural impact is something I aim to infuse into my own designs—creating designs that not only look appealing but also has their message and relevance resonate despite time passing.
