Reading Response 1

The design role changes and has changed in society; it has gone from a more artistic and objective view in the use of design to a more universal use. It has even been a part of a more corporate use and then has been used in social change/development.

The distinguishing field that separates designers from other creative occupations is the way that we allow others to be in a collaborative system of design. The way we perceive our work is also different as we question whether the design choices we made help the design’s perception and whether or not the message is being understood by the recipients.

Designers should concern themselves with unsolvable theoretical questions because it could be leading to new conception on the issue itself or it could also lead us to developing new ideas to counter the issue itself.

The role that technology plays in shaping design is the fact that it not only has made it simpler but more universal. It allows those who may not have the technical skill to design but they have an ambition or an idea to design. The intrichet ideas that came with designing has now been opened up to anyone interested in the design world as technology has allowed that to be true.

The most urgent problems that are facing designers today is the development of new innovative ideas and the complexity of projects as now everyone is able to design since technology is able to create a new common language of design amongst designers. The other issues that designers are facing are the authorship, universality, and social responsibility as we have created these problems for ourselves.

We are responsible for solving these issues as we ourselves have developed them. It stems from making the ability to design possible for all. To the fact that we want some recognition for our work and designs. To the fact that designers are able to shed light on social issues and bring them in view of the public.
