In my second semester, I took microbiology. For extra credit, I had to make a PowerPoint Presentation about mononucleosis, also known as the kissing disease. This project further demonstrates how our overall health impacts our oral health. For instance, the early symptoms of mononucleosis are swollen lymph nodes of the neck, palatal petechia, and tonsillitis. These are all observable abnormalities dental hygienists can inspect from the extra-oral and intra-oral examinations. For more information, please view the attached PDF file.
