Poms-poms, teddy bears, posters on hand, we were ready to show how contagious smiling is! 😀

At the 2019 Greater New York Dental Meeting, my group and I had an amazing experience educating and entertaining children at a program known as Colgate Smiles.  We sang a song to stress the importance of daily brushing and flossing. Although, I lost my voice that day it was the highlight of my senior year in the dental hygiene program. The children were able to quickly learn the chorus and sing with us.  They even got on their feet to show us some of their moves! Seeing them leave with smiles was the best feeling ever. “Gotta Keep On Brushing” – Parody of Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X

~Written by Sue Yi Ni; sung by Anita Dema, Stephanie Dirani, Sylvia Gines, Sue Yi Ni & Opal Thomas

Yeah I’m gonna take my brush and go side to side
I’m gonna brush till I can’t no more
I’m gonna take my brush and go side to side
I’m gonna brush till I can’t no more

I got the toothpaste on the rack
Get rid all the plaque
Flossing in the back
Got the shirt that’s white to match
Brushing all my teeth
Getting underneath
I’ve been doing it daily
Twice a day that rightttt

Can’t nobody tell me nothing
Gotta keep on brushing
Can’t nobody tell me nothing
Gotta keep on brushing

Brushing all those molars
Making me look cooler
Flossing all those canines
You can go and do it
Brushing is so easy
Makes my life so happy
I’ve been doing it daily
Twice a day that rightttt

Can’t nobody tell me nothing
Gotta keep on brushing
Can’t nobody tell me nothing
Gotta keep on brushing

I’m gonna take my brush and go side to side
I’m gonna brush till I can’t no more
I’m gonna take my brush and go side to side
I’m gonna brush till I can’t no more
