Quick Comments

  • Go to my Discussion Question asking you to introduce yourself to the class and write a paragraph (approx. 100 words) where you discuss any questions or concerns you have about taking an online writing class. You can mention anything that confuses or worries you. You may also discuss positive aspects (either that you’ve experienced or that you foresee) about online learning.  In addition to reflecting on online learning, if you wish, you may discuss your academic interests, why you chose your major, what you enjoy reading, listening to, watching, and doing in your spare time, or anything else you want to share (include your pronouns, if you wish).

Micro-Activity #1: Introductions

  • Write a post in which you do the following  (you can see Writing a Post for help on how to write a post):
    • List and discuss three pieces of information that caught your attention on the syllabus. These could be questions you have about grading or deadlines, comments on the online component, or observations about the chosen readings… really anything that catches your eye is fine.
    • Before publishing your post, make sure you do the following:
      • Title it “Micro-Activity # 1: Introductions”
      • Pick the category “Week 1 Work”
  • Take the online technology survey

Hello class, My name is Kayla Alvarez and I started my CityTech journey a little over a year ago as a Liberal Arts major. This is my first semester taking part in virtual learning considering that I was not enrolled in class last semester. I was previously enrolled in an online class before everything become virtual. I became familiarized with communicating via blackboard with my classmates and my professor. We utilize google docs as our peer editing platform which I found to be very beneficial in making online class a bit easier. As of now I have no concerns for the upcoming semester, I view majority of our unprecedented times as a learning experience! I am excited to take part in what seems to be a very interesting semester and to collaborate with everyone here!

      Hi Kayla!

I really appreciate your positive attitude! It’s great that you have some experience being an online student. We will be using google docs in this class as well– I find that to be a very effective way to engage in the peer editing process.
