Reading for 4/18: Revising “Poetry” by Marianne Moore

In class on Wednesday, 4/18, we will discuss a few different versions of Marianne Moore’s poem, “Poetry”: Poetry-Marianne Moore-versions.doc. In addition, I ask that you read this article from Slate in which poet Robert Pinsky addresses two of the most well known versions, and one of the pieces on “Poetry” on the Modern American Poetry website.

Students responsible for blogging should write posts by Sunday night; everyone else should reply with a comment by Wednesday afternoon. Feel free to write about any of the poems in Chapter 10, “Open Forms,” which we will also discuss in class on Wednesday, or about this “Poetry” reading.

I hope everyone is enjoying Spring Break!

  2. Hi pcesar12,
You can find the information about our assignments on the Assignments page, or by looking here. I’ve edited the page a bit to fill in some more details.
