Internship Week 9 Entry

3/22,23,25

This week, we were busy preparing for the event we had on Saturday. It’s for educators to study STEM activities for kids. We had a guest speaker Adam, who is a teacher for teachers who teaches at Columbia University. About 20 Dearest educators attended to this event. Adam taught some hands-on STEM activities that can be used in sessions with kids.

Figuring out how to fold papers to make a durable tower.

Shadow experiment. Figuring out which way to move objects to make shadows bigger (Closer to the light or away from the light?)

They are making a boat with aluminum foil and figuring out what shape the boat can hold many coins.

All of activities focus on problem solving skill. I think it’s very crucial for children because teaching how to think in a crime from the start of his or her mental development is necessary in whichever field. I’m glad that educators had fun doing these activities and they got to meet other educators and exchange information. I hope they have great sessions with children using what they learned in the event!
