Unit 3

Brainstorm

The topic I chose to write about in Unit 2 was how millennials were defying the odds and taking over the entrepreneurial industry, as well as the reasons behind it. I took keen interest in this topic as my curiosity grew after embarking on my personal development journey. The intended audience for this essay was the younger generation as well as people who were interested in becoming entrepreneurs.

In Unit 3, I will argue why this topic of choice was the right one for me as well as my intended audience and the evidence I will use will be my personal experiences as well as support based on research I’ve done.

The first genre I thought of when asked about choosing a genre for the intended audience was the use of  youtube video. Personally, youtube for me has been a place where I go to first when I want to learn about anything related to money, businesses or entrepreneurship. It is the place where a lot of millennials use as a tool to share information, business ideas or actually start businesses and as such I believe this genre would be a great choice for the intended audience.

Another genre I thought of which I believe would be a great form of choice would be the use of blogs as the information would be brought about in a conversational or informal style. Millennials would take interest in this style as it would be a bit more intriguing rather than a long article with just information.

Unit 3

Brainstorm

My unit 2 essay was about the meaning of being gifted and being talented; the differences and similarities between them. It also talks about the similarities and differences of mentality and mindset and how they connect to gifted and talented. Due to the philosophical nature of this essay, there were many genres I felt were inappropriate to use. The essay was more opinionated so informative speeches, articles, etc. wouldn’t fit. There were persuasive elements to it, however the concept behind the essay was more about giving the audience something to think about where as a persuasive piece would try and convince the audience to do or believe something. This essay also didn’t have a specific target audience so any genre that focused on a certain group also didn’t seem like a good fit. One genre I think would fit is a motivational speech. In the essay I talk about how people can go beyond what their supposed limits are and can achieve many things with the right amount of effort. Altering the tone and message of the essay, I think it could turn into a successful motivational speech while still keeping essential elements of it. Another genre that would fit would be a video essay; more specifically, for youtube. Youtube is a platform where people can post all kinds of videos and effectively find an audience for them. In a video essay, I can keep a lot of the elements I have in the essay while still making it enjoyable. It will also bring in a different audience; an audience that watches videos rather than read articles. Another genre would be a written abstract posted on social media. A lot of social media gives people the ability to express themselves whether it’s formal or informal and, like youtube (which is like social media), it helps find an audience interested in what they say. A written abstract is like writing an essay but because of the informal nature, it can feel more personal to the reader, thus making it more fun and impactful to read versus an academic essay.

Brain storm

In my previous essay I got into technology. Many could find that boring but I do feel it’s a problem in my generation. I will continue to get into detail, maybe make it a little interesting. We all realize that technology is such a huge problem in our world today. But what is so bad about it ? it’s a good resource we can use. We’re all addicted to our cellular devices that some can’t live without. It’s like a drug to us the more we use it the more we want it. Not many people are aware of how damaging technology can be to our brains, before i continue to give you all the negative things about it , i can say it has helped me throughout my school years and many of us who weren’t sure about an answer and we quickly had to search it up or even a simple question we had. I had to brainstorm a bit of ideas for this upcoming essay to try to top my last one. I might’ve not put much effort, for my first genre I will provide a video or a slide if it’s acceptable. This will be a great way to give the readers a visual concept of my information on technology. It’s like virtual learning. We prefer to have zoom calls rather than our professors giving us a lot of work. We like to engage. My second genre would be using pictures of actual numbers on how technology is good and bad for us. This will give them an idea of how effective technology can be for many of us our visual learners, so it will definitely be a good idea to show. Lastly i believe more information on technology using actual examples that are going on in our world so everyone can be aware of it and get a deeper understanding of what i want to talk about.
