Final Draft – bibliography

I know we all know about Obesity as throughout the years Obesity documentaries and awareness plans have been promoted worldwide throughout the years. But overtime I felt Obesity has been pushed aside recently since the whole pandemic, since the biggest problem right now is the whole virus putting us at home everyday and making everyone lazy and gaining weight. I’ve also started picking up on this trait as I think myself and everyone else have gained weight and stop exercising as often. Although it’s not obesity exactly and it’s just a few pounds imagine how difficult it may be for the people pre-covid  that were obese and still obese today. I know this feeling as when I am home I constantly want to eat, sleep, and do nothing all day. Reason being why I even sent this final draft so late. To be honest I’ve been trying to get on top of my school work and eating a proper diet to better my health and the best way to do so is to start by learning about Obesity and its impact. To be honest Obesity is something we need to be on top of right now as we’re all home eating, sleeping,  and barely going outside to get exercise as I’ve previously mentioned. You may be asking now, “What Exactly is Obesity? Well Obesity is a disease involving an excessive amount of body fat. You may be saying “Why do I need to know about Obesity”. Well did you know that over 2.8 million people have died from obesity from 1975-2016. It’s insane how many people have died from this disease, and I know through society obesity has been toned down lightly from fat jokes and such things as those. It’s just crazy to me how we have seen fat jokes about obese people and just accepted it or just let it be. When I had finished my research I understood the seriousness of obesity and now I have a different perspective on obese people. I know the term is “Big people” but if the person is obese I think its best to just say the term as it may be denial method to those people thinking their alright. But in reality it’s not and it is hurting their health and life expectancy. But with extensive research on the topic I will present to you today the cause and effectiveness of obesity and how it relates to us today.

Today for my research question I will be answering is “What is Obesity? What’s the cause and effect of it”? Starting from the cause of obesity according to Centers For Disease Control And Prevention(In America) “beside the causes and individual factors such as behavior and genetics. Behaviors can include physical activity, inactivity, dietary patterns, medication use, and other exposures. Additional contributing factors include the food and physical activity environment, education and skills, and food marketing and promotion”. This statement states the basic causes of obesity  are food consumptions, genetics, exercise, and medication. Reading this out is a lot to deal with as we have to maintain a certain weight and balance between all of these causes in order to reach the level of obesity. Although these are the basic causes of obesity it sure explains why obesity is so high in America. As in America I believe the causes are mainly towards food consumption and exercise. From further years of fast food places and people just not exercising enough it makes sense why America is known for having the 12th highest obesity rate of 36.20%. From these statistics alone this should be further proof of why we need to take better care of our bodies and helped those who are obese. Due to the causes of obesity which are stated to be death, High blood pressure, High LDL cholesterol, low HDL cholesterol, or high levels of triglycerides, etc. Those are a few side effects of being obese can give you as there are plenty more to cover.

Furthermore, the effects of Obesity can be Type 2 diabetes, Coronary heart disease, Stroke, Gallbladder disease, Osteoarthritis, Sleep apnea and breath problems, cancer, low quality of life, mental illness, and Body pain and difficulty with physical functioning. With all the effects cover I don’t think I have to explain why these things are bad for you and for everyone who are obese. But just to slightly cover how big these effects are to a person. Overtime Obesity will eventually get you fat which will make you lose the ability to move then overtime kill you from either the side effects previously mentioned or the sheer pain from obesity. Not a very good thing to have but you may be saying “Ok I know Obesity is harmful now what ways are there for people to get better”. Well according to the Centers For Disease Control And Prevention some ways to improve people’s health are to balance your diet, exercise more frequently, or visit the CDC website and search the nearest programs near you which help people prevent or help weight loss.

With All these programs and basic things people can do to help their bodies most people still die from obesity. Which begs the question of why so many people die. Well some people die from either medical conditions from years of being obese or simply lack of effort. Which relates to the topic of obesity and the causes. From all the evidence I’ve had shown the reason for people dying is simply from the lack of effort and motivation to give to those who are obese.

In conclusion I have stated the cause and effects of obesity. Even explain furthermore of why people die from obesity. Which goes back to today. How is it related, well it’s related to us today as since the pandemic were all home working comfortably. These conditions are easily able for us to start eating and not exercise. Statistically we could all get fat if these patterns do not change overtime. Although the pandemic right now is a key factor to things, we must not let it stop us from fatting ourselves. Let’s just say for example that the whole pandemic never goes away and the vaccine right now doesn’t actually work (it kind of doesn’t work right now as there have been numerous cases of vaccines giving side effects or even giving them the virus and eventually killing the host) and it’s just a thing like the flu. Something we need to take every year, yearly till the day we die. What happens then, we stay home for plus 20,30, maybe 40 years forced inside due to the virus and not do anything. Well of course not, which is why it’s important to exercise regularly, eat proper meals instead of eating junk food, and balance school work along with priorities. One thing to take away from this bibliography is to maintain a good diet and help those who are getting overweight. As we all need motivation from time to time. It is seriously shocking how impactful how a few words or a few people can change a whole person’s life and perspective on life. With All shows and experience in my life these are One last thought is to help those who are obese and to motivate them to succeeding in improve their lives.

Unit 2 Bibliography Final Revision

In a interview with Joe Rogan and the author of the novel Fight Club, Chuck Palahniuk. Joe says,” When you wrote fight club you tapped into something that was really fascinating for me as someone who’s been involved in martial arts my whole life and I always understood the cathartic release of violence, but I never saw it the way you did and you made it intising for a thinking person.”  I strongly agree with his statement and I can very much relate to it. I started martial arts when I was about 7 and I had practiced karate and fighting in tournaments at such a young age, and even growing up the dojo wasn’t the only time I had seen fighting. I am now a first degree black belt, so even though I don’t train in karate currently, that fighting part and athleticism never really left who I am. This of course has gotten me in trouble at an early age for fighting in school, I’ve been suspended in middle school, but thankfully towards high school I became more of a nicer person to which I was cool with everyone and never needed to fully throw hands with someone I really wanted  to hurt. How ever these experiences have taught me that anger and frustration, are valid human emotions. Sometimes we are dealt a shitty had and someone comes around and makes it shittier, and no human is deprived from that feeling no matter what background you come from(unless you mentally lack a part of your brain that creates that feeling); Teachers, babysitters, students, bus drivers, medical workers, etc. We all know what it feels like to be angry especially with the Rona messing up our lives, we all have at least some increase of pent up frustration, anxiety, or anger. And thats what fight club represents, an answer that everyone can understand.

At the beginning of the movie Edward Norton introduces Tyler as a soap salesmen, and throughout the film it is revealed how he makes the soap. Basically he goes to a liposuction clinic and steals human body fat in order to dissolve it and make it into soap. Tyler Durden’s character is a radical character that is very rebellious and it is quite ironic that he “steals rich women’s fat asses and sells it back to them”. If you don’t already know that Tyler and the narrator is the same person then you need to watch the movie again. Tyler asks the narrator to hit him in exchange of letting him stay at his place since his complex was just blow out by an unexpected fire. The narrator disputes his request because he had never been in a fight and believe that was a good thing. Tyler responded with “how much can you know about yourself if you never been in a fight?” Pointing out his lack of experience and really shows you can not know your true self if you are limiting your experiences to what is in front of you. Sometimes you got to go off the trail, flip the script, see it from the other side to see what your real destination is. At the beginning the narrator attends these therapy group sessions as a mental health treatment for his insomnia problem. Although he had no connection with testicular cancer, tuberculosis, organic brain parasites, bowel cancer. He only attended them because that was the only place where people listened and truly cared. This is also where he meets Marla singer who he called a tourist but in reality she was the same as him, a faker just looking for support. As Tyler and the narrator start up a fight club in the basement of a bar which is kind of iconic because where do grown men that work a 9-5 typically go when something bad happens, a bar, and since his complex had just exploded I’d say the stereo type is true in this case. However there are rules to this fight club. First rule of fight club is you do not talk about fight club. The second rule of fight club is you do not talk about fight club. in total there are 8 rules but I think the first two are important because Tyler well knows that these men are going to break the rules, and thats the whole purpose. He wants them to develop into rule breakers because with rules there is no fight club and without their development the will be no Project Mayhem. The narrator work for a car company that requires him to go on trips to put a number to see if recall is financially smart to do and not morally the right thing to do, thus leading to the creation of fight club. Project mayhem was the radical version of fight club, it was the total out break of these men. This is where violence became more than just fighting another man, it turning into fighting the system and vandalism. This is where Tyler Durden and the narrator began to part ways in ideology. As project Mayhem grew the narrator began to grow away from Tyler’s plans. Tyler’s total intentions were self destruction, from day one to the end of project mayhem. His purpose was to give the narrator freedom. And now that I think about it, he did. In the end, the final steps of project mayhem ended with the destruction of several financial buildings for the purpose of leveling the records of debt to zero. The narrator was being held at gunpoint by Tyler when he realized he was in control, this made him shoot himself in the jaw to which made Tyler disappear. But in reality it was what Tyler wanted. My source for this paragraph is the actual film Fight Club (1999)

In this paragraph I will be discussing the message of fight club and what an article has reviewed the message to be. At one point in the article the author brings up this point that “we seek help from our unconsciousness when our consciousness cannot deal with certain problems that involve our emotions and feelings.” This article was written by Arilens from medium.com. I agree with this writer’s evaluation because in relation to the movie’s quotes Tyler Durden says,”Only after disaster can we be resurrected. It’s only after you lost everything that you are free to do anything.” My reflection to the quote from the article and the quote from the movie contributes to my idea that maybe self-improvment isn’t the answer, maybe self-destruction is the answer. And there are a lot of misconceptions about self-destruction being the answer, this doesn’t mean destroy everything you worked for or everything you were passionate about, but instead break away from the things that keep you from feeling free and doing what you want. In the narrators case from the movie it was his job and a typical lifestyle that keep him in a loop of working to buy things that he was taught to believe he should like in order to give him fulfillment. He trades hours of his life to buy Ikea furniture and house decorations, and when he blew him complex up it wasn’t just things that got blown up but the lifestyle that was keeping him from being free. After that incident Tyler makes a comment and says,”the things you own end up owning you.” This is very much true because when fires and accidents happen that is where insurance will help you out, but just like car accidents when this happens your insurance rates go up. Thus meaning you will have to work more to pay for the items that you once purchase which are now gone. One last part I would like to touch on in the article is where it says, “As Albert Einstein says ‘No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it’.” I believe this connects very much to the meaning of Fight Club because where Tyler Durden first asked the narrator to punch him in the face, he also mentions” how much can you know about yourself if you’ve never been in a fight.” When you limit your experiences and hide from change you will never see your authentic self, because that image only comes from a breakdown or a break through and in this case a fight.

In this paragraph I will be diving into another article’s analyzation of the meaning of fight club. In this article the author decides to start with how David Fincher who was the director for the movie Fight Club decided that Brad Pitt would be a good actor for the role of Tyler Durden. It says, “One hot summer night in 1997, David Fincher caught Brad Pitt on the street below Pitt’s Manhattan apartment. When Fincher handed him the script for Fight Club that night, he read it and related to it—not to the chaos or destruction, but to the existential dread of having everything you’ve been told to want and still feeling empty.” In my opinion Brad Pitt was perfect for the role, the character Tyler Durden is supposed to be an image of what the narrator wants to be. As a matter of fact we all do it everyday, we see ourselves as who we’d like to be, but not everyone has the courage to just run with it. Brad Pitt is also well know as the “pretty boy, an empty-headed heartthrob”, as the article describes him. Which is why he said he could relate to the part, because it doesn’t matter if your rich, broke, skinny, fat, cute, ugly. You will have problems in your life. The article also says he commented in a interview in Rolling Stone in 1999 “Im the guy who’s got everything. But I’m telling you, once you get everything, then you’re just left with yourself. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: It doesn’t help you sleep any better, and you don’t wake up any better because of it.” I would like to connect this to a completely different movie call Once Upon a Time in Hollywood by Quinten Tarantino. Brad Pitt play a stunt double named Cliff Booth for a 1950’s western Tv series for his buddy and co actor Rick Dalton. In this Film these two characters are the perfect example of what fight club means. Rick Dalton is a famous actor and being a famous actor, publicity and attention is a big part of who he is. And as his career takes a turn from his well known series dropping him, he struggles to find himself and becomes lost and insecure. Mean while Cliff Booth(Brad Pitt) is in fact the complete opposite, he never had much fame to begin with and wasn’t a rich person. He lived in a trailer on a ranch behind a drive in movie theater. Cliff Booth how ever had allegations on him, supposedly he had killed his wife. This of course had an affect on him getting a job as a stunt man. Which may have caused a break down, this connects to “it is only once we’ve lost everything that we are free to do anything.” Cliff Booth is the perfect example of someone who is at peace with who they are and confident in their authentic self. Back to the article I read a statement that I can agree with, ” Project Mayhem sets its sights on destruction. Sure, it’s literal anarchy for a while, but after that, it has a purpose: Durden wants to blow up the credit card companies, undo the American Dream, and set everyone free from their debt.” Debt is a big issue with everyone in America. You want to become a doctor? Go to college. You want to buy a house? Take out a loan. Credit card companies make money when you miss payments, this leads to them charging interest. Thus causing you to work more hours to pay off your debts instead of being free to do what you want.

In conclusion I have learned a lot about the meaning of Fight Club. And I have learned about how to view problems in life, and how we must not avoid them, and how we must also search for our authentic self. We must also rid ourselves of the thing that we believe is holding us back from being free while also contributing to a dream we have and not just free loading from responsibilities. I learned to acknowledge those feelings of stress and anger and find ways to expose the true source of them.

Annotated Bibliography Final

I’m a serious NBA fan. I like to listen to/read a lot of stories about young players and their  journeys to the NBA. When I hear these stories, I would often hear about the endless work ethic these guys have and the time and effort they put in to perfect their game. I noticed that these players would often be described as gifted players or generational talents. The way they are described makes it sound like their gift/talent is a result of their hard work and dedication, and not so much something they are born with. Growing up, I always thought being gifted or talented was about being born with certain abilities or skills considerably above average. When I first started drawing, I would always show off my work to my parents and they would compliment me by saying things like “wow you’re talented” or “you have a real gift.” Of course they were just being supportive, but this made me believe that I was born with this natural ability to draw and that because of this natural ability, I can become a great artist. Hearing these terms used differently, made me think about the concept of being gifted and being talented; their true meaning along with the similarities and differences between them. This also lead to the connection of other terms like mentality and mindset.

By definition, being talented is to have a natural aptitude or skill for something, while the definition of being gifted is to have an exceptional talent or natural ability: essentially an elevated version of talent. The definition of mentality is the characteristic attitude of mind or way of thinking of a person or group, and mindset is the established set of attitudes held by someone. Essentially, the characteristics of a mentality make up a mindset.

The reason I included mentality and mindset is because I believe there is a connection. I believe that being gifted identifies more with the mentality of an individual while being talented focuses more on the application of an individual’s mindset. Being gifted is the foundation of being talented. In an article titled “What Is The Difference Between Gifted And Talented?” By Ray Fitzgerald, it states “While a test that identifies a gifted child looks more at broad cognitive skills, testing for an academically talented child focuses on the nitty gritty these students are ones who score in the top percentiles of all students on individual subject-area tests for math, science, reading or any other topic.” This quote is stating that tests for children identified as gifted, focuses more on their mental action, tendencies, and process of understanding information while testing for talented children focuses more on them applying their smarts to different subjects.

Kobe Bryant is a perfect example of my concept of mentality and mindset. Kobe Bryant was a professional NBA player that spent his entire 20 year career on the Los Angeles Lakers. Besides the successful career he had, one aspect about him that he will always be remembered for was his “Mamba Mentality” (Black Mamba was his nickname). In an excerpt of his book, it states “When it came to basketball, I had no fear. What I mean by that is: if I wanted to implement something new into my game, I’d see it and try incorporating it immediately. I wasn’t scared of missing, looking bad, or being embarrassed. That’s because I always kept the end result, the long game, in my mind
” Bryant breaks down and describes different characteristics of his mentality. He explains how he was never in fear of losing or failing. He didn’t care if he looked bad or felt embarrassed. He explains how eager he was; he had the urge to constantly learn and apply new material. He also explained how focused he was; he stay focused and keep his long term goal in sight. Another characteristic that wasn’t directly stated was his high work ethic which kind of glued everything together. All of these characteristics, among others unmentioned, built the foundation of his mindset which, when applied, made him the generational talent he was. Kobe had the mentality of being the best version he could possibly be.

In addition to my concept of mentality and mindset, there is also the idea that when an individual has a certain mindset/gift, they are able to perform or achieve certain things faster and/or at a greater level than others. However, with the right mentality, anyone can still achieve anything they desire even if it’s outside the domain of their gifts. In an article titled “Is There a Mindset Misconception with Giftedness?” By Emily Mofield, it states “The buzz about mindsets, what we believe about our intelligence, has captivated parents and educators in recent years. Its message is powerful if you believe your intelligence can grow, you will embrace challenges and achieve more
this mighty notion of mindset can be misinterpreted. In discussions about giftedness and mindsets, there may also be misconceptions. Research about praise tells us that when we praise students for their intelligence, they are likely to develop fixed mindset beliefs—the belief that your abilities do not change and so, they are more likely to avoid challenges in order to maintain a smart identity
” This quote identifies 2 different types of mindsets, 1 being a growth mindset and 2 being a fixed mindset. A growth mindset is a mindset that regardless of any limitations, one’s intelligence can still grow and achieve more. A fixed mindset is where one believes that one can’t grow beyond the gifts they have.

The first mindset is the mindset everyone potentially has. Anyone can develop new characteristics of their mentality to accomplish things even if there are setbacks. For example, let’s say there are 2 people: person A who has is gifted with math expertise; and person B who is gifted with language arts expertise. They are both equally gifted in their own right, but what if they both are striving to become authors? Both can do so however person A will have to work harder to achieve this feat. This is because their characteristics don’t compliment the goal they’re after as well as person B. However, along the way, person A will develop their mentality to accomplish the goal they’re after.

After realizing my personal definition of mentality, mindset, gifts, and talents; I’ve also realized that people are way more capable than they know. Anything is achievable regardless of the gifts or talents they have as long as right amount of work and effort is put in. Anyone can truly surpass their own limitations.

Final Draft – Bibliography

the researcher I have done about cyberbullying and how people such as children and adults are affected by it. I have sighted some source about the topic some are about people appearances such how they look and obesity people. cyberbullying has created a lot of suicidal cases have risen. which mean more people are taken their own life because of cyberbullying occurring online platform but mostly on face book the first case Megan Meier in 2007 was one of the earliest documents to expand on cyberbullying. which have caused cases to increase through the years which have heavy impacted on children who are on social media 24/7.

First question when did cyberbullying became a thing? in the first source ” victims perceptions of traditional and cyberbullying , and the psychosocial correlates of their victimization”. In the article it talks about what cyberbullying does to a person include increased levels of depression, anxiety and psychosomatic symptoms, in addition to often severe physical harm and even suicide. in the article it stated that cyberbullying existed in the 1900s but expand when computer became a thing. so knowing that cyber building was a thing in the 1900s but kept spreading through new innovations such as computers and phones.

Second question which platform did cyberbullying started on? the platform was Facebook in 2007 Megan Meier died due to harassment on Facebook. three cases appeared to be bullied on face book those were the first document cases of cyberbullying. the united states has a percent of 85% of awareness of concept of cyberbullying and the laws to combat cyberbullying are 30% which shows that bullying might not stop. cyberbullying has a long term affect on people having ”increased risk of anxiety, depression, distress and lower general well -being”. which is really high the percent of the awareness but yet its still being develop and expanding people are being bullied through social media and taking their own life.

Third question how to stop cyberbullying? from a third source is talking about what is cyberbullying and how to stop it. Cyberbullying is bullying with the use of digital technologies. It can take place on social media, messaging platforms, gaming platforms and mobile phones. by stopping it by informing an adult person and reporting it. people believe to ignore those comments and to block the hatred but most of all to report that person which the developers Facebook could handle that situation.

In conclusion I have stated the affected that cyberbullying have increased the suicidal cases have reached 800,000 people die worldwide each year from suicidal. because of bullying people such adults and children but children are mostly the targets. but the important thing that cyberbullying was been a thing wasn’t causing problems in the 1900s but became a thing in 2007 when a case appeared of a teen being bullied on social media.
