Home is not a place, home is everywhere that feels like you are welcome. Because of my father’s occupation, growing up I had to move to different countries. And each time my family moved countries its very hard to make friends especially when I don’t know the language. Because of that I never really feel like I have a place to call home. But I found a way to make friends and to feel like home.
When I was a kid in Indonesia enjoying life, my parents told me that we are moving to Germany. With no preparation at all we went to Germany. The first few days of first grade was horrible because I couldn’t speak the language so I couldn’t understand what the teacher and my classmate was saying. But then I found out 2 important things to help me, which were soccer and television. When my mother put me in a soccer club I instantly got hook to the sport, wasn’t any good but I was able to make friends from it, and my soccer club made me feel at home for the first time since I landed in Germany. The second thing that helped me was television. By watching television especially SpongeBob, I was able to learn German language which was very important to me because I needed that to make friends at school.
After I found a hobby and was able to speak the language. I wasn’t doing that good in school , I was just having fun with soccer and talking to my new friends. Because of that my mom told me to find the right group of friends so that I would do assignments. It was extremely hard to find a friend that really push me to do my assignments, because I was in first grade of elementary school.
I conclusion, to be able to feel like home you need to find a hobby and the right group of friends. That way you can make everything around you to be just like your home or to feel welcome.
