One anecdote that sticks out to me was when i was a kid around 9-11 years old i use to have a horrible problem saying ” Pit ” instead of saying put. As a kid, you really don’t have great command of english let it alone can speak properly, at least in my world. As a child no one would correct me more than my dads ex fiancee to speak properly and to stop using pit incorrectly in a sentence when put was the appropriate word. That experience stands out the most for me as an anecdote because it showed how important speaking properly was very important in life. Speaking properly allows you to effectively communicate a point or want to a spouse, friend or a colleague so there isn’t any confusions. Ironically, i catch myself correcting my youngest who is 5 years old because he has a habit of saying pit like i did. I’m starting early with my boy because i know the importance of speaking properly but i’m not overbearing with it either. I’am very thankful for my dads fiancee being hard on me, it saved me from a lot situations i’m sure. A situation can turn left without being able to talk properly or saying a word incorrectly. The ability to have the knowledge and able to speak properly is POWER. That power can change the world, even change someone life from anything negatively they may been going through.

” Mother Tongue And Genre “
The genre i interact with the most would be a sports novel and/or a sports non-fiction autobiography. Sports has always been a love and hobby of mine since a kid. I grew up as a kid wanting to become a professional athlete in the NBA. While playing sports i gained experience with competition, camaraderie and teamwork which influenced my passion heavily. As an adult i find time to read up on any sport i’m interested at the time or learn more about a particular sport or learn more about a favorite player. I make sure to do so being that i never made it professionally as an athlete, it keeps me apart of the game in a sense. Sports non-fiction is written about a sport or a combination of a sport and a story based on true events. Also, they’re written in a professional tone and language. A sports novel is about a character based sports story. Sports novel are usually written to inspire also evoke emotion in the reader. Sports novel are professionally written in a more serious tone yet can still contain some humor. A ” Mother Tongue ” by Amy Tan is a non-fiction genre about a young girl who recognized her own mothers limited language. Amy was inspired by that short coming and became fascinated with language which odd to her peers because normally asians are pushed to more math or science. What makes my chosen genre the genre it is because of the real life events and information it provides about a particular sport one wants to read up on.
” Shitty First Drafts “
The author Annie Lamott uses a process that consist of 3 drafts to complete any of her writings. The process would start by step 1. down draft, which was simply getting something, anything, down on paper. Step 2. up draft, where you try to say what you have to say more accurately, basically fixing or touching up that needs touching or fixing up. Step 3. dental draft, is where you check every tooth, to see if its loose or cramped or decayed, or even healthy. The final step is where you check to see if anything needs revision from grammar, pronunciation or structure of the writing.
After reading ” Shitty First Draft ” i noticed i shared the same writing process as the author. Whenever i have to write, whether it being music or am writing assignment i wrote a couple drafts before i was ever was done with it. I would go through the same agony the author endured with getting started. But something i. realized is once i put something on paper i found a good groove and i was able to revise some then complete my work.
I can honestly say i already borrow some if not all of the author writing process. Therefore, i really don’t need to add any of the author writing process to mine because i feel i do everything she does from writing drafts to revision then writing a finale piece.
