During unit 2 I wrote about how diversity has changed and the types of impacts it had on minorities. That was just a boring bibliography. I have3 ideas that can make my topic more interesting. The first one is that I can use is a YouTube video that talks about how diversity has changed. The reason I think a YouTube video would be more effective is because the video would be short and straight to the point which is more interesting than reading a one long paragraph. The second genre I would use are images of how diversity used to look compared to now. for example I would show pictures of segregation in schools and how there were signs for black people and Spanish and asians telling them which bathroom or restaurant they can use, then i’ll show pictures of people of different races marching in unity or protesting, or images of blacks who graduated with white people as soon as integration was allowed. The reason I think images are effective is because sometimes saying things just don’t have the right impact on audience members so sometimes you have to show them the truth. Also images are a fast way of proving how diversity has changed over the years because they’re not that hard to analyze and it’s actual proof. The third genre I would choose is showing the different stories and perspectives of people who have been impacted by diversity. This is effective because I feel that reading people’s personal account of things really brings the audience to relate to them. I also believe that every story has a lesson and the audience will learn from these people’s personal accounts, whether it’s a positive lesson or a negative lesson. Even though stories are just words on paper, it still has the power to change our mood and how we approach and think about things.
