Good morning future creative writing student, my name is Zaire Lancaster and I am writing this letter to help you prepare for this course. I’ll share some of my most impactful assignments, tell you the secrets of being a successful online student and hopefully give you other useful tips to succeed.

From the various assignments we have done, the two most impactful were the short stories and the poetry. While the poetry wasn’t exactly my favorite assignment, I enjoyed the challenge of matching the author’s style and voice. This made me think outside the box and hopefully, it will do the same for you. The short stories were great because they were adaptations of our memoirs or a true story. The adaptation of something real into a fictional setting really intrigued me and helped me with creativity on future assignments.

Personally, I did not find being an online student is harder than an in-person class but just in case it may be challenging so, here is some advice. If you are taking this or any class as an online student, remember two things, carefully manage your time and work with a purpose. Just because you aren’t in a class doesn’t mean you should slack off or not be in a productive environment. If you want a good grade you’ll have to put the effort in and always put your best foot forward. When it comes to managing your time, be sure to know what you have to do and when it is due. If you do this and also start your assignment when you get them, you’ll have no problem being an online student.

In conclusion, I hope this class teaches you that even in an academic or professional environment don’t forget your creativity. It’s part of you and it is what makes every individual unique. There may not always be time to have fun but as long as you are able to express yourself through different forms, you will do great!
