Rakib Hassan, Poems (Revised)

Anger Haiku

Concrete jungle full of hate

Peoples hearts full of anger and spite

Unity still can be seen

Sweet Lies Poem

The people wanted sweet promises

They listened and saw with their own eyes

That they were being sold compromises

They were sold empty compromises

The cycle will continue year after year

The Defender Poem

As society crumbled away

Defenders rose among the lands taken

People no longer felt like a stray

The defenders took back the lands forsaken

Hope gave people power

Hope gave people time

The Defenders protected chose who cower

The Defenders were in their prime

They will prevail above darkness

One day they will be united

The light shines on god’s creations with a warm brightness

God himself would be delighted

Untitled Poem

Misled youth

Guided by weak spirited parents

They believe they know the truth

The social dissonance is apparent

A lost generation

Not thinking they’re enough

So hard to get out this situation

They believe they’re not tough

Barely got through their first quarter of life

It takes time to grow

How can you when your so full of strife

Give them a moment to themselves to show

“Anger Haiku” captures that special NY charm

I liked the defender poem, it gives a warm homely feeling which is needed in these tough times.
