After reading both “The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe and “Dream Deferred” by Langston Hughes. While both poems are grounded in reality the authors use figurative language to pique the reader’s interest in the unknown. The comparison between real or fake and the connection from the oddities of our world to the unknown really interested me.

I love your choice of poems, as it reminds me of the high school days when poems like these were what we had to read in English class. Edgar Allen Poe is one of my personal favorite authors as his grim and dark writing is just so interesting to read. Edgar Allen Poe just seemed to know how to make a grim and dark setting that fits so well with his writing. Langston Hughes is another big name in poetry that we learned in high school and I love this poem specifically since he is treating dreams as if it were a resource and could dry up in the sun.
