— In Time
They told me no; I was too young, I’ll be able to make my own decisions, in time.
They told me maybe, I can choose my own hobbies, in time.
They were too busy to pick me up from school
They promised they would chaperone on field trips if possible, in time.
They enrolled us in many after school activities, including sports on the weekends
We’d rather play in the park, but they said we could choose what to do with our time, in time.
They continued working, often late
We’d ask them to come home earlier for dinner; Yes, they said, in time.
It’s been quite a while, since the table was full
But we’re hopeful to sit together again, in time.
Often things were pushed back and were said to be done, in time.
But the chances will eventually run out, in time.
— Poem for Who
With no warning you showed up that night
Blinding my path like a flash of light
You had my attention in the first attempt
I couldn’t figure out your intent
But our times together seemed genuine
Vulnerable secrets and sharing our sins
Honey whiskey conversations, never running dry
Turned sour then bitter from your lies
Like tearing off a mask
I’ see the real you, at last.
An unfortunate fate, one may say
That left a lingering taste of dismay.
The kind of destruction you harbored and spilled
All on you, I cannot blame
But I wonder from how, why, and when it came.
I hope you have a good life,
I wished it was a good bye.
— A Void
If it’s due today, I’ll do it today
If it’s not something urgent, I’ll hold it off
Maybe I’m avoiding, something of a void
It’s hard to shake off, but internally I’m shaking
How can a mind be empty yet running so fast
I’m speeding down over 200mph
But not gaining any ground
— Feed me!
Hello my favorite human, it’s time to wake!
The sun is almost rising, for goodness sake!
I see my food bowl is sad and pitiful
For you to leave it empty for this long, it’s quite despicable.
But no worries, I still love you, just as you love me, you say
When I decide to chew up your remaining lingerie!
And don’t you dare give me that dry ass kibble,
You know I love my wet food, and don’t portion too little!
